Which is more important: trivia, or how RPA is dealing with the discontinuance of all trains south and west of Washington in October? Less trivia, more dealing with operational issues!
Why can’t we do both? Not EVERY article or blog we post/share needs to be doom and gloom or breaking news. You know very well that we cover everything we can.
We have been talking to members about the cancellations and we have been talking to Amtrak.
There are MASSIVE infrastructure projects happening along the NEC right now and a number of those are around the DC region. At some point, they are going to need to suspend service to get the work done otherwise it’s going to take even longer to get anything accomplished. The same happens at every level of rail travel - light, heavy, street, intercity, etc.
If the lens was missing the signal would appear to be white! My understanding is that this shortcoming was identified, and the change made, pretty quickly!
This is a wild guess, but I'd guess it has to do with being able to distinguish it from, well, just lights at night (as from an oncoming train, for example)

Because a broken red lens looked white and caused a horrible crash?
Using white for "Clear" could be confused for a regular (nearby) streetlight.
